A short note about cookies
Last updated: May 2026
Plain-English legal-ish text written by two home winemakers, not lawyers. If you need this for anything that actually matters, run it past someone with a JD.
Cookies are small text files a site stores in your browser. We use very few of them, and none of them are creepy.
What we use
- Essential cookies. Things like remembering you dismissed a banner or stayed signed in to the community area.
- Analytics cookies. Anonymous, aggregate stats so we know which posts are getting read.
Third-party cookies
When you click a link out to a retailer like Amazon, that retailer may set its own cookies — including affiliate-tracking cookies that let them credit Backup Wine for a referral. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Turning them off
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. If you block all cookies, parts of this site (and most of the internet) may not work the way you'd expect.
