When you decide to skip the kit and ferment a 6-gallon pail of California juice, this is what you add to the beginner setup.

Fresh juice arrives in late September or early October from California crushes. It's a different sport than a kit — wider flavor range, more decisions, more pride at the end. Worth it.
Assumes you already have a fermenter, carboy, auto-siphon, hydrometer, and sanitizer. This bundle is the additional stuff you need the year you graduate from kits.

Kit instructions hold your hand. Fresh juice does not. You'll need to pick a yeast, feed it nutrients, watch the SG more carefully, and probably oak the wine. These are the items that make that possible.
No basic fermentation gear (you have it). No bottling supplies (different bundle). No expensive testing equipment — that's optional until you're aging seriously.
